It started with a simple message through Instagram of course, and we decided to meet. We had never spoken to each other before this, so I expect it to be a tad bit awkward. You know meeting somebody you haven’t talked to but you always like their pictures and you know so many things about them. Hahaha.
The person was Shivani Patil who runs her blog called The F.drug
Surprisingly it wasn’t awkward all! Ended up meeting a sweetheart of a person and I instantly got along with her. We sat at Starbucks in Khar just chilling and getting to know each other and chatting away and then realised oh wait. We met to talk about a possible collaboration! As most of you know I don’t live in India so obviously, I had limited closet and we had to plan around that. Then came in ‘Reeti Arneja’ to the rescue or more like Payal Saboo who works behind the scenes. I’d bought an outfit for my sister’s wedding from them in December so I knew I loved their designs and thought Shivani would too. We got in touch with them and spoke about a possible collaboration, they said yes of course, and we picked our favourites from their collection.
We wanted to be somewhat in sync yet still be reflecting our personal styles, so we went for a common colour, the navy blue, and Indian outfits, western and Indo-western. The look we were shooting was for an evening event, a Bold and Beautiful pair. You can probably tell which outfit was what. Shivani opted for a body fit to cut out dress with Indian embroidery on it, while I went for the classic off the shoulder, where the skirt was box pleated, and it was in my favourite raw silk fabric. Our choices also complimented our body types as well as our personal styles.
