Our enchanted forest Mehndi – Garba

We had a lot of different events in store for our guests at the wedding. The first one was a traditional Indo-Thai Welcome Lunch for our guests. My family welcomed all the guests with garlands and tikka’s alongside Thai dancers and musicians.

The first official event for the wedding was a sundown Mehndi- Garba. I’m sure some of you are wondering what that is? Instead of generic Mehndi function, we decided to add a little bit of our ancestral tradition to it.

When we first visited the resort for the wedding, we decided that their beautiful garden area would be the venue for the Mehndi function. I’ve always loved enchanted forest themed white weddings and I felt this is where I could implement it in my wedding!

I’m a little OCD about the details and when it came to my own wedding I was the same! Even though I wasn’t in charge of every little thing, I made sure to let the wedding planner & decor team know what I wanted! I had mentioned little details like a wooden signboard, a floral backdrop for photos & a dance floor that had a hilarious illustration on it.

Our wedding planner was also a very close family friend and had a few cute surprises for us! Like our entry into the event on a beautifully decorated motorcycle and an Indian style swing where Kishan and I could enjoy the event from.

As a designer, I always wanted to design outfits for my family for the wedding day, however with all the wedding preparations and time crunch that wasn’t possible! I still managed to get everyone to coordinate for the Mehndi and was able to choose what print & colours their outfits would be!

How cliché it was going to be I wanted to wear yellow for my Mehndi! Being super minimal with my own fashion it was very hard to pick outfits that looked ‘bridal’ enough but also kept true to my personal style! I loved this outfit because it looked like a bridal outfit but it wasn’t crazy bling! I had no particular designer or style in mind and after looking at a lot of different designers and then I came across Tamana Punjabi. The outfit which I saw in her store was in blue colour with beautiful mirror and resham thread work. They were able to customize the outfit for me and we decided to go for a bright yellow with a pastel green dupatta!

We had a surprise flash mob by my friends and sisters at the Mehndi for Kishan,  it was on the song “Main Bani Teri Radha”.
